Welcome to Philippine Foundation for Maritime Teaching Aids Inc.
The Philippine Foundation for Maritime Teaching Aids, Inc.(acronym MARTA) is a non-stock, non-profit corporation duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and was incorporated on November 18, 1999. Company policies and directives emanate from a five-member Board of Trustees while day to day activities are managed by the General Manager. The foundation’s office address is at the 6th Floor, Suite B, DAO I Condominium, 189 Salcedo St., Legaspi Village, Makati City.
The main objective for which MARTA was established is to develop, improve and provide adequate maritime teaching aids which are at par and abreast with current international maritime education and training standards and conform with STCW requirements. These teaching aids include books and similar instructional materials, equipments like simulators and software. Other objectives as mandated in its charter are the following: (a) to reprint and market, as deemed appropriate, maritime publications from foreign countries; (b) to grasp the training needs of the local maritime industry vis-à-vis the global industry demands and make an assessment of the competence required of our seafarers to make them globally competitive in aid of developing suitable teaching aids; and (c) to accept grants/donations for the furtherance of the foundation’s objectives.
The people at the helm of MARTA have extensive and diversified background in the maritime industry and are distinguished by their all-around and hands-on expertise in all aspects of the shipping industry. Thus, we pride ourselves in developing and publishing relevant and quality books and reference materials for use by maritime students and schools and also by other maritime learning and training institutions. We offer a wide range of books that are being used by many maritime schools nationwide and authored by competent writers on the subjects. Our books encompass all major subjects for both the operational and management levels and our authors and consultants are continuously exerting efforts to make further improvements on them as well as in developing new books that are in step with changes in the maritime trade and technology.
